Goldfinch Class 17/11/23

Another busy week in Goldfinch Class. It has been anti bullying week and we started the week looking at our odd socks and understanding that we are all different and therefore it is never ok to be unkind to someone because they are different to us. We have had several mini lessons on anti-bullying through the week and have listened to several of Andy's Odd Socks songs. On Friday, we ended the week by learning about Children in need. We loved wearing our spotty clothes and doing lots of bearpees to raise money for children in need. We have spent time finishing our windmill structures. We learnt how to assemble them and then evaluated them. We have been busy rehearsing the nativity and singing the songs..... only two weeks of rehearsals left. In maths we have been continuing learning about addition and subtraction. One of the things we did was to work practically to understanding why we sometimes have to exchange 1 ten for ten ones when we are subtracting. This helped us to understand the column method more. In English we have been writing setting descriptions and did some super assessed writing focussing on basic punctuation and checking our sentences made sense. In geography we have been using compass directions to explain a route across the world.
