We have had a super exciting week here in Wagtail Class. Our new topic 'Come outside' is underway. We have started this learning by planting cress seeds. We will be observing our pots over the coming weeks and will be creating a diary to record the changes we see.
In RE, we have learnt all about the Jewish celebration, 'Passover'. The children have learnt of Moses seeking freedom for slaves in Egypt with Pharaoh refusing to let them go. They have learnt why this celebration is so important in the Jewish faith. They have enjoyed exploring Jewish symbols, Jewish colouring pictures and learning some new Jewish key words such as, 'The Torah' (Hebrew Bible Scrolls) and 'Matzah' (flatbread).
In Maths, our key word this week was 'length' and the children drew around their feet and compared the length of these to everyday objects within the classroom. They were able to use the vocabulary 'long/short and longest/shortest' when making comparisons.
We would like to say thank you to Doctor Bobbett for coming to see the Wagtails children this week and sharing her expertise and introducing new learning about our 'hearts'. Doctor Bobbett provided a really fun activity to demonstrate how the heart works and how we can keep our hearts nice and healthy. The children loved this. Finally, we have even managed to squeeze in a birthday celebration.
You have worked your socks off this week Wagtails and, as always, I am very proud of you. Have a lovely weekend. Mrs Slade :)
