What parents and carers need to know about early years providers, schools and colleges during the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak

We have updated the guidance on what parents and carers need to know about early years providers, schools and colleges during the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak to include the latest information on self-isolation and shielding, who needs to get a test for coronavirus (COVID-19), face coverings, assessment and exams.

Reopening of schools and colleges after the half term break

Schools and colleges should resume completing the daily attendance form on the first day that your school or college reopens after half term. You can get help if you have problems while using the form and information on completing the form can be found in our guidance on how to complete the educational setting status form.

As children and young people return after the half term break please follow the guidance for schools and colleges on what to do if you have a confirmed case of coronavirus (COVID-19). Schools and colleges should not request evidence of negative test results or other medical evidence before admitting children or welcoming them back after a period of self-isolation.

Get help with remote education

The get help with remote education guidance provides information and support for teachers and leaders on educating children during the coronavirus outbreak. We have added example lessons for remote teaching to help teachers adapt their classroom practice for remote education.

DfE are offering several school-led webinars on remote education to help share good practice with school leaders, teachers and middle leaders in primary and secondary schools:
