Severe Weather Procedure

SEVERE WEATHER CONDITIONS

This is just to let you know what will happen should the weather get very bad now that we are nearly in the winter part of the year.

If a decision is made not to open school as a result of deteriorating conditions overnight, a notice will be put up outside school as early as possible to tell you that school is closed.  The school may also have to close if not enough staff can get in to school due to them being unable to travel to school safely. In the event of a school closure we will try and text parents so please make sure that the school has your correct mobile number, it is also hoped that the school telephone will be staffed from 8.15 - 9.00 a.m.

Please don’t leave your children at school without checking that school is open.

If worsening weather conditions indicate that by the end of the school day children and staff may have difficulty getting home, every attempt will be made to contact you to ask you to come and collect your children from school early.  Needless to say, the Head, Deputy or other authorised people will remain at school until all children have been safely collected.

If you anticipate difficulties collecting your children later in the day due to deteriorating weather conditions, please come early and collect children from school or telephone us to let us know if you have made alternative arrangements.

Local radio will be notified and information will be broadcast on:

Radio Bristol  94.9 FM, 104.6 FM         BBC Somerset   95.5 FM, 1566 (MW)

We hope that we will not have to close the school due to bad weather but wish you to know the arrangements if necessary.
